In 2000 there organisation was registered and employed their first time employee which made it become the first LGBT organisation in Taiwan. In 2002, their organisation gained more support and they were able to move to a bigger location in the Guting neighbourhood of Taipei which allowed them to invest time in providing a wider range of services. In 2009 the established another branch in Kaohsiung which would help reach out to other areas in Taiwan. This was when the LGBT movement was became rooted within Taiwan. Over 250 people within the community volunteer their time to support the group.
They focus on maintaining an open dialogue about LGBT issues by providing sexual education. Some topics they speak about include raising awareness of how to prevent HIV/AIDs and what to do if you are in an abusive relationship. They also provide resources to help parents of LGBT children and elders. There is a counselling hotline that you are able to call if you are looking for further assistance. They are able to counsel people in regards to their gender identity, LGBT relationship issues, sexuality issues and gay right issues.
They have LGBT Peer Mentoring where a positive emotional environment is provided so people are able to share their personal stories which can help others learn. With the person’s approval these stories can be shared to educate other people on the experiences and problems the LGBT community face. They also have a community centre where people can meet up in a safe environment to socialise and attend events that are hosted.
